ObjectiveTo explore the effect of health intervention on empty nest elderly patients with hypertension.MethodsAltogether 50 cases of elderly empty nest patients with hypertension who lived in the community from July 2013 to August 2016 were selected as the object of this research and randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 25 cases in each group.Control group received:conventional antihypertensive treatment and nursing care;while, observation group accepted health intervention;the intervention period of both groups was 6 months.ResultsThe postinterventional systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure of observation group, were significantly lower than those of control group;the knowledge awareness rate(84.0%),the reasonable diet rate(88.0%),the proper exercise rate(80.0%)and the medication compliance rate(72.0%)of observation group were significantly higher than those of control group(56.0%,60.0%,48.0%and 44.0%);the total incidence of complications(including coronary heart disease, stroke, heart failure and kidney failure)of observation group was 8.0%,significantly lower than that of control group(32.0%),with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).ConclusionHealth intervention can effectively control blood pressure level and reduce the risk of complications in elderly empty nest patients with hypertension in community, which is suitable for popularization and application in grass-roots community.
