Abstract:Objective To analyze the preventive effect of the modified blindfold on the falling during the blue light irradiation in the treatment of newborns. Methods A total of 78 children with neonatal jaundice who were treated in the First Affiliated Hospital of Gannan Medical University from August 2018 to February 2019 were selected as the research objects. They were all treated with blue light irradiation and divided into two groups according to the lottery method. The 41 cases in group A used modified blindfold, and 37 cases in group B used conventional blindfold. The fall-off rate of blindfold, the incidence of adverse reactions, the comfort score and the total bilirubin levels before and after treatment were compared. Results The fall-off rate of blindfold in group A (12.20%) was lower than that in group B (32.43%), and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in group A(14.63%) was lower than that in group B (35.14%), and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The comfort scores of group A were lower than those of group B, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Before treatment, the total bilirubin levels of the two groups were not significantly different (P>0.05).After treatment, the total bilirubin level of group A was lower than that of group B,the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The use of modified blindfold for blue light irradiation in neonates can reduce the fall of blindfold, has fewer adverse reactions, and can improve the comfort of children, thereby promoting the resolution of jaundice.
