Study on obesity status and cognition of obesity-related glomerulopathy in community residents in northeast Sichuan

Abstract:Objective To investigate the obesity status of community residents in northeast Sichuan and their cognition of obesity-related glomerulopathy(ORG),and to analyze the related influencing factors.Methods According to the random sampling method,1905 residents were randomly selected from 5 regions in northeastern Sichuan from July 2018 to September 2018 as the survey subjects.Questionnaires were used to conduct the survey,which included basic information,health knowledge and examination,and ORG related knowledge.Results The obesity rate of residents in northeastern Sichuan was 11.8%,the overweight rate was 35.9%,and the residents′ awareness of ORG was 13.4%.The results of univariate analysis showed that the education level,age and whether to go for a physical examination were the influencing factors of residents′ awareness of ORG,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The results of multivariate analysis showed that educational level,age and whether to go for a physical examination were factors influencing the recognition of inhabitant ORG,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The residents in northeast Sichuan have relatively high rates of overweight and obesity,and their awareness of ORG is low.Health education and publicity should be strengthened to improve residents′ self-health management awareness and increase the public′s awareness rate of ORG.
