Abstract: Objective To explore the impact of continuing nursing care based on comprehensive Geriatric Assessment(CGA) on the cognitive status and self-care ability of patients with Alzheimer′s disease (AD). Methods a total of 88 patients with AD admitted to the Third People′s Hospital of Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province from April 2018 to March 2020 were selected and divided into two groups by random number table method, 44 cases in each group. The control group received routine follow-up care, and the observation group received CGA-based continuation care for a period of 3 months. The cognitive status, daily self-care ability and accident rate were compared between the two groups. Results The two groups of AD assessment scale-cognitive subscale (ADAS-Cog), minimental state examination (MMSE),Barthel index(BI)scores comparison before nursing,the differences were not statistically significant (P>0.05).The scores of ADAS-Cog, MMSE, BI in the control group were compared before and after nursing, the differences were not statistically significant (P>0.05); The scores of ADAS-Cog, MMSE, and BI in the observation group after nursing were higher than those before nursing, and the observation group was higher than the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). the total incidence of accidents in the observation group (6.82%) was lower than that of the control group (22.73%), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion CGA-based continuing nursing care can improve the cognitive status of patients with AD, improve their self-care ability in daily life, and reduce the occurrence of accidents.
