Abstract:Objective To analyze the risk factors of vitamin D deficiency in children aged 6-9 years old. Methods From July 2018 to July 2019, the data of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D, that was 25-(OH)D, for children aged 6 to 9 years who came from the Outpatient Clinic of Child Healthcare Department in People′s Hospital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region were collected. The data of 204 children aged 6 to 9 years were collected by self-designed questionnaire and then analyzed for correlative factors. The children were divided into two groups according to their serum 25-(OH)D levels: normal vitamin D group (n=77) and vitamin D deficiency group (n=127).Univariate analysis and binary Logistic regression were used to analyze the factors affecting vitamin D deficiency. Results Statistically significant differences were found between normal vitamin D group and vitamin D deficiency group in season of examination, cod liver oil supplementation before the age of 2 years old, average daily outdoor activity time in the past one month, average sun exposure area in the past one month, sunscreen usage, milk drinking, egg eating, seafood eating, fungus eating, and oral cod liver oil intake in the past two months (P<0.05).Winter (OR=4.473, 95%CI: 1.240-16.132, P=0.022), irregular cod liver oil supplementation before 2 years old (OR=8.261, 95%CI: 3.058-22.311, P<0.001), never eating eggs (OR=7.593,95%CI:1.732-33.294, P=0.007), occasionally eating eggs(OR=11.292, 95%CI: 3.681-34.639, P <0.001), never eating seafood (OR=7.303, 95%CI: 1.494-35.696, P=0.014); occasionally eating seafood (OR=10.625, 95%CI:2.373-47.575, P =0.002) were independent risk factors for vitamin D deficiency. Conclusion The risk factors of vitamin D deficiency are winter, irregular supplementation of cod liver oil and before 2 years old, lack of frequent eggs eating and seafood eating.
