Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of acupuncture combined with massage in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) pain and its influence on functional limitation and quality of life. Methods A total of 84 patients with LDH who were treated in our hospital from January to September 2019 were selected as subjects, and were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method, 42 cases in each group. The control group was treated with acupuncture. The observation group was treated with acupuncture combined with massage. The clinical efficacy, pain, function limitation, quality of life and adverse reactions were observed. Results The total clinical effective rate in the observation group was 95.24%, which was higher than that in the control group of 73.81%, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the visual analogue scale scores and Oswestry dysfunction indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Waist activity and SF-36 quality of life questionnaire scores were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The effect time of conscious pain relief in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group, and the duration of analgesia was longer than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion The clinical effect of acupuncture combined with massage for the treatment of LDH is remarkable, and the safety is good. It can effectively alleviate the symptoms such as pain and function limitation of patients and improve the quality of life of patients.
