Abstract:Objective To investigate efficacy of two chemotherapy regimens in the treatment of advanced elderly esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and their effects on related cytokines. Methods 96 elderly patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma who treated in our hospital from August 2015 to August 2018 were selected.Patients were divided into control group (n=48) and study group (n=48) according to the random number table method.Patients in control group were given chemotherapy regimen of Cisplatin combined with Fluorouracil.Patients in study group were given chemotherapy regimen of Docetaxel combined with Cisplatin. The clinical remission rate of the two groups were compared. The levels of cytokines(C-reactive protein [CRP], interleukin-6 [IL-6], interleukin-8 [IL-8] and soluble MHC-I chain-related gene A [sMICA]) were compared before and after treatment. The adverse reactions were recorded. Results The clinical remission rate after treatment in the study group was 64.58% (31/48), significantly higher than 41.67% (20/48) in the control group (P<0.05).There was no significant difference in CRP, IL-6, IL-8 and sMICA between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05), and the above indexes were lower in the study group than that in the control group after three courses of treatment (P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions such as nausea and vomiting, myelosuppression, abnormal liver function in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion Docetaxel combined with Cisplatin in the treatment of advanced elderly esophageal squamous cell carcinoma has a significant effect, can effectively improve the levels of related cytokines, reduce the incidence of adverse reactions, has a certain clinical value.
