The value of combination serum progesterone,human chorionic gonadotropin,and estradiol in predicting early threatened abortion outcomes

Abstract:Objective To investigate the value of combined detection of serum progesterone (P),human chorionic gonadotropin(HCG),and estradiol(E2)levels in predicting early threatened miscarriage outcomes.Methods By retrospective analysis 86 patients with early-stage threatened abortion were admitted to our department of obstetrics from September 2016 to December 2017.According to the results of their protection,they were divided into experimental group including 50 cases who were successful to protect fetus or embryo and control group including 36 cases who were failed.The levels of serum P,β-HCG and E2were compared between the two groups at 3,5,7 and 9 weeks of gestation.Results The P and β-HCG levels in the experimental group at 3,5,7 and 9 weeks of gestation were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in serum E2test results between the two groups at 3 weeks of gestation (P>0.05).The serum E2test results in the experimental group at 5,7 and 9 weeks of gestation were significantly greater than those in the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Combined detection of serum P,β-HCG,and E2levels can be used to predict the outcome of early threatened abortions in order to further develop treatment programs,to maximize the benefits of patients,and to reduce unnecessary medical disputes.
