Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of combining eyelid massage with Polyethylene Glycol eye drops in the treatment of xerophthalmia. Methods From October 2015 to October 2017,222 patients with xerophthalmia treated in First Hospital of Bethune in Jilin University were selected as the subjects, and divided into two groups according to the time of treatment. The single group(111 cases)were treated with eyelid massage alone, and the combined group(111 cases)were treated with eyelid massage combined with Polyethylene Glycol eye drops treatment. The therapeutic effects of the two groups were analyzed and compared. The scores of dry eye symptom, tear film rupture time, corneal fluoresce in staining score and basal tear secretion test were compared before and after intervention. Results The combined group had a total effective rate of 90.99%,which was significantly different from that of the single group(81.08%)(P<0.05).After treatment, the dry eye symptom score of the combined group was(3.12±0.25)points,membrane rupture time was(12.88±3.52)s,corneal fluorescein staining score was(1.05±0.90),basal lacrimal secretion test was(6.38±1.14)mm/5min.The dry eye symptom score of the single group was(5.01±1.12)scores,tear film rupture time was(8.33±1.99)s,corneal fluorescein staining score was(4.22±1.53)points,and basal tear secretion test was(5.03±0.56)mm/5 min.The difference was statistically significant between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of eyelid massage and Polyethylene Glycol eye drops for xerophthalmia treatment can achieve better therapeutic effect, which is worthy of further recommendation.
