Abstract:ObjectiveTo investigate the significance and effect of plasma homocysteine (Hcy)and C-reactive protein(CRP)in the diagnosis of carotid atherosclerosis.Methods70 patients with carotid atherosclerosis diagnosed in our hospital from January 2015 to January 2017 were selected as the observation group,at the same time, extravascular ultrasound was performed,40 patients with carotid intima-media thickness of the localized thickening but no plaque formation were selected as group A (no plaque formation),30 patients with the carotid artery intima thick diffuse thick and visible plaque formation was selected as group B.70 cases without carotid atherosclerosis in our hospital physical examination center were randomly selected as the control group. The levels of Hcy,CRP,and other biochemical markers in the observation group and the control groups were measured and compared.ResultsThere was no significant difference in the levels of serum urea nitrogen, creatinine, uric acid, fasting blood glucose, triglyceride, creatine kinase, high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein between the observation group and the control group(P>0.05).The levels of Hcy and CRP in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, with significant difference(P<0.05).The levels of Hcy and CRP in group A were significantly lower than those in group B,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionPlasma Hcy and C-reactive protein can provide a diagnostic basis for the diagnosis of atherosclerosis. It is a quick and effective method, which is suggested that the examination can be popular used clinically.
