Effect study of acupuncture and exercise therapy combined with rehabilitation training as an intervention on treating knee osteoarthritis in middle-aged and elderly patients

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of acupuncture and exercise therapy combined with acu-moxibustion and rehabilitation training in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis.MethodsA total of 90 patients with knee osteoarthritis treated in rehabilitation department in our hospital from February 2014 to February 2016 were selected as research objects. By random,they were evenly divided into the acupuncture and exercise therapy combined with rehabilitation training group,rehabilitation group and the medication group.In the acupuncture and exercise therapy combined with rehabilitation training group,warm needling,exercise therapy during acupunctural insertion combined with rehabilitation training were used.In the rehabilitation group,only rehabilitation training was used.In the medication group,glucosamine sulfate and Xianling Gubao for oral administration was applied.The HSS score of knee joint and the index of severity for osteoarthritis(ISOA)were selected as evaluated indicators for assessing the therapeutic effect.ResultsThe scores of HSS and ISOA after treatment in the three groups were both higher than those before treatment,with significant difference (P<0.05).The scores of HSS and ISOA in the acupuncture and exercise therapy combined with rehabilitation training group after treatment was higher than that in the rehabilitation group and the medication group,with significant difference(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the scores of HSS and ISOA between the rehabilitation group and the medication group after therapy(P>0.05).The total effective rate in the acupuncture and exercise therapy combined with rehabilitation training group was higher than that in the rehabilitation group and the medication group,with significant difference (P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the total effective rate between the rehabilitation group and the medication group after therapy(P>0.05).ConclusionAcupuncture and exercise therapy combined with rehabilitation training can effectively treat knee osteoarthritis,and is worthy of clinical application and promotion.
