Abstract:ObjectiveTo explore efficacy of telephone follow-up continuous nursing on recurrent febrile convulsion in children.Methods96 pediatric patients with febrile convulsion admitted to our hospital from January 2014 to June 2016 were selected and randomly divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table, with 48 cases in each group. The control group was given routine discharge instructions, and the observation group was given telephone follow-up continuous nursing in addition to routine discharge instructions. The awareness of the related knowledge among the patients′parents at 6 months post-discharge and the recurrence rate within 6 months were compared between two groups.ResultsThe score for awareness of related knowledge among patients′parents at discharge was(81.36±10.58)points in the observation group and(82.64±11.39)points in the control group, without statistically significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05);the score for awareness of related knowledge among patients′parents at 6 months post-discharge in the observation group [(93.34±6.85)points]was higher than that in the control group [(88.19±7.16)points],with statistically significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05);the recurrence rate within 6 months in the observation group(6.25%)was lower than that in the control group(22.92%),with statistically significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).ConclusionTelephone follow-up continuous nursing is effective for raising the awareness of the related knowledge among parents of pediatric patients with febrile convulsion, thus reducing the recurrence rate.
