Abstract:Objective To study the clinical effect of using low doses of Prednisone with progressive therapy in the treatment of ocular myasthenia gravis in the elderly. Methods 179 elderly patients with ocular myasthenia gravis in our hospital from October 2006 to January 2015 were selected and divided into observation group(n=90)and control group(n= 89),In the observation group, the drug was administered by a low dose escalation, and in the control group was given routine oral administration. All patients were followed up for more than one year. Results Total effective rate in the observation group was 92.2%,with 77.5%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Recurrence rate in the observation group was 27.8%,and that of the control group was 68.5%,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Using low doses of incremental dosing method can improve treatment effect of elderly patients with ocular myasthenia gravis, shorten time and dose of hormone, but also can effectively reduce the incidence of adverse drug reaction.
