Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical pathological characteristics of renal angiomyolipomas diagnosis and decision. Methods The resected specimens of 12 patients from January 2009 to December 2015 who were confirmed as RAML in the hospital were selected as the research object, and studied through optic microscopy observation and immunohistochemical staining for identification and analysis of the clinicopathological features of RAML.Results Among 12 RAML patients,3 weremale and 9 were female;the age of onset ranged from 31 to 57 years old, with the average age of(43.58±5.31)years old;5 cases of RAML occurred in the left kidney and 7 cases in the right kidney;nephrectomy was performed in 5 cases and tumor enucleation in 7 cases;8 patientswere followed up and 4 caseswere lost to follow-up. According to histopathological observation,3 cases of RAML(accounting formore than 25%)weremainly composed of proliferative EAML(Epithelioid AML)cellswith atypia,nest-like or diffused distributions, aswell as the sleeve-like arrangement around the blood vessel. As for the immunohistochemical expressions,Vimentin,HMB 45,melan A and SMA were diffusely positive;while,CD117,CD34,CK,EMA,S-100 and CgA were negative. Conclusion Surgical resection should be taken as the first choice for treatment of RAML,a kind of raremesenchymal neoplasms that can be diagnosed and differentially diagnosed through optic microscopy observation and immunohistochemical staining.EAML is a kind of mesenchymal neoplasmswith themalignant potential and its biological behavior needs to be further observed.
