Application value of amplitude-integrated electroencephalography in the neonatal purulent meningitis

Abstract:Neonatal purulent meningitis is one of the leading causes of neurological sequelae and death in newborns.The clinical manifestations are lack of the specificity,therefore it need be diagnosed by the cerebrospinal fluid examination.The maturity of neonatal brain development and brain function can be directly reflected and evaluated by amplitude-integrated electroencephalography.Analyzing the background wave,sleep-wake cycle and epileptic discharge of amplitude-integrated electroencephalography can help to early diagnose the brain function,take early intervention to reduce morbidity,and evaluate the prognosis of neonatal purulent meningitis.This review elaborated the interpretation of amplitude-integrated electroencephalography and its clinical application value in the neonatal purulent meningitis.
