Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of cortisol administration before biopsy on the pathologic diagnosis of primary central nervous system lymphoma. Methods The clinical data of 180 patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma treated in Hongqi Hospital Affiliated to Mudanjiang Medical College from August 2017 to October 2019 were retrospectively analyzed.According to whether or not cortisol was used, the patients were divided into the preoperative cortisol group (91 cases) and the non-preoperative cortisol group (89 cases), and the pathological diagnosis results of the two groups were compared. Results In the preoperative corticosterol group, 5 cases (5.49%) did not get positive results, and primary central nervous system lymphoma was confirmed after re-biopsy.In the preoperative non cortisol-treated group, 3 cases (3.37%) did not get positive results, and primary central nervous system lymphoma was confirmed after re-biopsy.There was no significant difference in case detection results between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion For most patients with primary central nervous system lymphoma, the application of cortisol before biopsy has no significant impact on the final pathological diagnosis.
