Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of transurethral prostatectomy in the treatment of high risk benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).Methods From October 2015 to September 2016,39 patients with high risk BPH admitted into our hospital were selected as research objects. All participants were performed with transurethral prostatectomy. The operation time, catheterization time after surgery, incidence of postoperative complications, and hospital stay after surgery were calculated. The international prostate symptom score(IPSS) and quality of life(GQOL-74) before surgery and 3-month follow-up visits after surgery were compared. Results Among 39 patients, the average surgical time, average catheterization time after surgery, incidence of postoperative complications, and average hospital stay after surgery were (21.9±4.6) min,(5.8±1.3) d,(5.1%) and (6.9±1.5) d in turn. The IPSS score 3-month after surgery was (9.6±1.5) points lower than that before surgery,(24.9±2.8) points. The GQOL-74 score was (70.1±5.8) points, higher than that before surgery [(49.5±6.2) points] (P<0.05).Conclusion Application of transurethral prostatectomy in the treatment of high BPH can effectively improve patient′s quality of life with the advantages of short operation time, reliable effect, and few complications.
