Pharmacodynamics study of Qingfei Yihuo Capsules in preventing cough,eliminating phlegm and relieving asthma

Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of Qingfei Yihuo Capsules in preventing cough,eliminating phlegm and relieving asthma and its possible mechanisms.Methods The clean ICR mice were selected for antitussive and expectorant experiments,and the healthy guinea pigs were selected for antiasthmatic experiments.They were randomly divided into model group,Qingfei Yihuo Capsules doses groups and Diphenhydramine group.The therapeutic effect of Qingfei Yihuo Capsules were observed using models such as the sulfur dioxide induced cough method,the expelling phlegm method with phenol red,and the histamine induced asthma.The possible mechanisms were discussed using the release model of inflammatory factors in A549 cells induced by dextran sulfate sodium salt(DSS).Results The cough incubation period of the mice in the middle and high dose Qingfei Yihuo Capsules group and Diphenhydramine group were longer than those in the model group and low dose group,the frequency of cough within 2 minutes was fewer than that in the model group and low dose group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The secretion of phenol red from trachea in the middle and high dose Qingfei Yihuo Capsules group was higher than that in the model group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The incubation period of asthma seizure in the middle and high dose Qingfei Yihuo Capsules group was longer than that in the model group and low dose group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In the model of cellular inflammation induced by DSS,the interleukin-1β(IL-1β)levels in cell supernatants in the medium and high concentration groups after using Qingfei Yihuo Capsule were lower than those in the DSS model group and low concentration group,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Qingfei Yihuo Capsules has significant effects of preventing cough,eliminating phlegm and relieving asthma,and its possible mechanisms might be related with the anti-histamine effect and the inhibition of the release of inflammatory factors.
