Abstract:Objective To analyze the relationship between bone mineral density and serum vitamin A, D and K levels in children with dwarfism. Methods A total of 73 children with dwarfism consulted and treated in our hospital and 73 normal children with the same age and gender from January 2016 to September 2017 were selected as the case group and the control group respectively, and the height, weight, bone mineral density and serum vitamin A, D and K levels of the children in two groups were measured. The children in the case group were divided into mild bone mineral density deficiency group (27 cases), moderate bone mineral density deficiency group (35 cases) and severe bone mineral density deficiency group (11 cases) according to the bone mineral density Z values, and the relationship between bone mineral density, age and serum vitamin A, D and K levels in the case group was analyzed. Results The height, weight, bone mineral density and vitamin A, D and K levels in the case group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The levels of serum vitamin D and K in the moderate bone mineral density deficiency group and the severe bone mineral density deficiency group were lower than those in the mild bone mineral density deficiency group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The levels of serum vitamin D and K in the severe bone mineral density deficiency group were lower than those in the moderate bone mineral density deficiency group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in serum vitamin A levels in the children with different bone mineral density deficiency (P>0.05). Serum vitamin D and K were moderately positively correlated with bone mineral density (r=0.677, 0.659, P<0.05), and serum vitamin D and K were moderately positively correlated with age (r=0.549, 0.518, P<0.05). Conclusion Serum vitamin D and vitamin K levels are associated with the bone mineral density in children with dwarfism, the early detection is of great value for the prevention and reduction of low bone mineral density in children with dwarfism.
