Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of orthodontic treatment for adult periodontitis. Methods Altogether 50 patients with periodontal disease admitted to our hospital from April 2014 to April 2017 were selected as objects and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the treatment plan,25 cases in each group. The control group received basic treatment, while the observation group received orthodontic treatment on the basis of the control group. The therapeutic effect, bleeding index, periodontal pocket depth, anterior teeth coverage and treatment time of two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 96%,which was significantly higher than that of the control group (72%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The bleeding index, periodontal pocket depth and anterior teeth coverage in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the treatment time was shorter than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion For the patients with periodontitis, oral orthodontic treatment is effective, which can control periodontitis, restore the function of occlusion and the beauty, and improve the life quality of patients. It is worthy to be further discussed and popularized in the clinic.
