Abstract:ObjectiveTo explore the clinical effect of orthodontic traction in treating crowded dentition with severe periodontal disease.Methods26 cases of crowded dentition with severe periodontal disease from March 2013 to July 2015 in our hospitalwere selected as the research objects. All patientswere treated with orthodontic traction and followed-up for 1 year.Length of dental arch, alveolar density and inflammatory factors of patients after treatment were analyzed.ResultsWhen the appliance removed and one year after appliance removed, the length of dental arch was (86.8±3.3) mm and (85.4±4.1)mm respectively, which was longer than (74.2±3.6)mm before treatment, with significant difference (P<0.05).One year after appliance removed, the alveolar density ofmaxillary central incisors, left upper central incisors and low maxillary central incisors was obvious higher than that before treatment, with significant difference (P<0.05). When the appliance removed, the level of IL-1βand INF-αwas higher than that before treatment, with significant difference(P<0.05).One year after appliance removed, the level of IL-1βand INF-αwas lower than that before treatment, with significant difference (P<0.05).ConclusionOrthodontic traction in treating crowded dentition with severe periodontal disease has good effects, which can improve dentition status effectively, enhance dental health degree, and it is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
