Abstract:ObjectiveTo compare the curative effects of simple periodontal initial therapy and combined orthodontic treatment for periodontal disease.MethodsFrom October 2015 to October 2016,68 periodontal disease patients were selectes and randomly divided into the simple treatment group and the combined treatment group, each group contained 34 patients.Patients in the simple treatment group were treated with simple periodontal initial therapy. The combined treatment group was treated by periodontal initial therapy combined with orthodontics treatment. The curative effect index, such as gingival index(GI),bleeding on probing(BOP),probing depth(PD),tooth mobility(TM)and alveolar bone density (ABD),and the aesthetical index such as dental aesthetic index (DAI),measured value of smile photograph and patient satisfaction were evaluated.ResultsThe GI,BOP,PD and TM after treatment in the two groups was lower than that before treatment, with significant difference(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the GI after treatment between the two groups(P>0.05).The BOP,PD and TM after treatment in the combined treatment group was lower than that in the simple treatment group, with significant difference (P<0.05).The ABD after treatment in the combined treatment group was significantly higher than that before treatment and in the simple treatment group after treatment, with significant difference(P<0.05).The improvement of aesthetic index after treatment of the combined treatment group was better than that before treatment and of the simple treatment group, with significant difference (P<0.05).ConclusionThe combined orthodontic treatment for periodontal disease can significantly reduce periodontal inflammation, tooth mobility and the destruction in alveolar bone, obviously improve the dental esthetics of patients,it is worthy of promotion.
