Clinical effect of medical ozone water in the treatment of radioactive oral ulcer of nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Abstract:Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of ozonated water on radiation-induced oral ulcer.Methods Forty nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients who underwent concurrent chemoradiotherapy or radiotherapy from July 2015 to June 2017 in our hospital were selected as the research objects.They were divided into control group and experimental group with 20 cases in each group by random number table method.Patients in the experimental group were rinsed with self-made Vitamin B12solution(0.9%sodium chloride 500 ml+Vitamin B12,500 μg)for 10 min,4 times/d,and ozonated water(concentration:15 μg/L)for 10 min,2 times/d respectively.Patients in the control group were gargled with Vitamin B12solution for 10 min and 8 times/d each time.After 7 days of gargle treatment,the curative effect was evaluated.Results After 7 days of treatment,the total effective rate in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Two patients in the experimental group showed slight nausea and no vomiting.No nausea or vomiting occurred in the control group.The patients of two groups had not any adverse reactions such as allergy or poisoning,and the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion Ozone water is cost-effective,safe and effective in the treatment of radioactive oral ulcers,which can be used as a new treatment method.
