Abstract:Objective To explore the risk factor of atherosclerosis in patients with new-onset type 2 diabetes mellitus, and analyze the correlation and significance between serum C-peptide and atherosclerosis. Methods From November 2013 to November 2014,73 patients with new-onset type 2 diabetes mellitus visited our hospital for treatment were selected.According to whether there was atherosclerosis or not,they were divided into combination of atherosclerosis group (n=31)and simple type 2 diabetes mellitus group(n=42).30 healthy people after physical examination were selected into healthy control group.The level of serum C-peptide in three groups were tested and the correlation between serum C-peptide and atherosclerosis was analyzed. Results The serum C-peptide level in simple type 2 diabetes mellitus group was obviously higher than that of healthy control group and combination of atherosclerosis group,and there was a statistical difference(P<0.05).There was a statistical difference of serum C-peptide level between combination of atherosclerosis group and healthy control group(P>0.05).There was a negative correlation between serum C-peptide level and degree of atherosclerosis(r=-0.328,P<0.05).Decrease of serum C-peptide level was an independent risk factor in patients with new-onset type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with atherosclerosis(P<0.05). Conclusion The level of serum C -peptide in patients with new -onset type 2 diabetes mellitus is closely related with complications of atherosclerosis,and decrease of serum C-peptide level may cause easily complication such as atherosclerosis and other vascular complication in patients with type 2 diabetes.
