ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical effect of lateral percutaneous transforminal endoscopic discectomy(PTED)in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Methods130 patients with lumbar disc herniation treated in our hospital from March 2015 to March 2017 were selected as the subjects, and randomly divided into two groups,65 cases in each group. The control group receivedfenestration discectomy (FD)and conventional surgery, while the observation group received underwent PTED.The operation time, postoperative bed rest time, postoperative hospital stay, length of incision, amount of bleeding in the 2 groups were observed.Visual analogue scale(VAS),Oswestry dysfunction index(ODI)and Macnab standard score were measured before and after treatment.ResultsAfter treatment, the total effective rate of observation group was higher than the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The operation time, postoperative bed time, hospitalization time, blood loss, incision length and other related indicators in the observation group were better than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After 30 d treatment, the ODI score was compared between the two groups, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).VAS scores of preoperative, postoperative 3 d and 30 d were compared between the two groups, and the differences were not statistically significant(P>0.05),the difference of VAS score 24 h postoperative was statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionPTED and FD can effectively treat lumbar disc herniation, but PTED has the advantages of less bleeding, small incision, postoperative bed and hospital stay, less trauma, faster postoperative recovery. The clinical efficacy of PTED is not significantly different from that of FD,and the long-term effect needs further study. So the clinical effect of PTED is good, and it is worth popularizing.
