Abstract:Objective To discuss the clinical effect of topiramate in treatment of tourette syndrome(TS). Methods 80 children with TS treated in our hospital from February 2014 to February 2015 were selected and randomly divided into observation group and control group, each with 40 cases.Children in the observation group were treated by topiramate, while children in the control group were treated by tiapride.Therapeutic effect was evaluated according to syptoms of children. The dose of administration was adjusted based on therapeutic effect and adverse reaction. Results After treatment, the overall response rate in the observation group was 85.0%,and was 82.5%in the control group, there was no significant difference in overall response rate between two groups(P>0.05).The rates of adverse reaction in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion The clinical effect of topiramate in treatment of TS is significant with low incidence of adverse reaction and favorable compliance, thus it is worthy to be promoted.
