Abstract:ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of Saccharomyces boulardii on children with rotavirus enteritis.MethodsFrom September 2011 to September 2013,a randomized case controlled trial was performed in Maternal and Children Health Care Hospital of Xiamen. All of the children were aged from 6months to 5 years and diagnosed as rotavirus enteritis.Patients were randomly divided into experimental group and control group.Oral rehydration salts and/or intravenous rehydration,Dioctahedral Smectite and licorice zinc were given to the control group routinely;on the basis of the treatment of the control group,Saccharomyces boulardii was given to the experimental group additionally.Dehydration correction time, heat recovery time and frequency of stool were detected in two groups.ResultsA total of 308 children were enrolled in this study at last,148 cases in the experimental group,160 cases in the control group. The effective rate was 87.2%in the experimental group, whereas 61.3%in the control group, and there was significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).In the experimental group, the total efficiency rate was 98.0%,while in the control group, the total efficiency rate was 83.2%,and there was also significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).The dehydration correction time and heat recovery time in the treatment group was(1.08±0.51)d and(0.77±0.35)d,respectively,(2.51± 0.84)d and(1.20±0.64)d in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionSaccharomyces boulardiiis effective in the treatment of pediatric rotavirus enteritis, the symptoms eliminated faster, and the diarrhea cured within shorter time.So it isworthy of clinical application and promotion
