Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of early limb movement combined with intermittent pneumatic compression devices (IPCD) to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after major orthopedic surgery in the elderly. Methods A total of 96 cases of total hip arthroplasty (THA), total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and hip fractures surgery (HFS) patients accepted from the People′s Hospital of Puning City, Guangdong Province from January to December 2018 were selected as the control group.103 cases of THA, TKA and HFS patients accepted from the People′s Hospital of Puning City,Guangdong Province from January to December 2019 were selected as the study group. The control group was given routine nursing, and the study group was implemented early limb exercises combined with IPCD on the basis of the control group to prevent DVT.The incidence of DVT and the application rate of anticoagulant drugs were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence of DVT of the study group at the 3 and the 7th days after operation were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The application rates of anticoagulant drugs of the study group at the 3, 5 and the 10th days after operation were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusions Early limb movement combined with IPCD can effectively reduce the incidence of DVT after major orthopedic surgery in the elderly and reduce the application rate of anticoagulant drugs. It is worth applying.
