Objective To investigate the effect of extended nursing care on the quality of life in patients after artificial hip replacement. Methods Altogether 30 patients who underwent artificial hip replacement in our hospital from January to December 2016 were involved as observation group, while another 30 patients who underwent artificial hip replacement in our hospital from January to December 2015 were involved as control group.Control group received routine discharge guidance and the patients were followed up for 7~10 days after discharge, followed by regular outpatient followup.Observation group accepted extended nursing until 3 months after discharge. The Harris hip function scale score,Barthel index rating scale score and patient satisfaction questionnaire score at discharge,4 weeks,12 weeks after discharge and incidence of joint dislocation complications were compared between the two groups within 12 weeks after discharge. Results When discharged, the Harris hip score,Barthel index score and satisfaction degree compared between the two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).In the 4 weeks and 12 weeks after discharge, the Harris hip score,Barthel index score and satisfaction of the observation group were higher than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of joint dislocation complications in the observation group was lower than the control group within 12 weeks after discharge, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Extended nursing can effectively promote the improvement of the hip joint function after artificial hip replacement, improve patients′post-operative self-care ability and satisfaction and reduce the complications of joint dislocation, which promotes the body recovery and effectively improves the patient's quality of life.
