Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of calcium hydroxide paste combined with root canal therapy in treatment of pulpitis or apical periodontitis. Methods From January 2017 to October 2018,100 pulpitis and apicitis patientswere selected as the research object, according to the randomization envelopemethod, they were divided into experimental group(50 cases)and control group(50 cases). The control group was treated with zinc oxide iodoform clove oil cement and root canal therapy, while the experimental group was treated with calcium hydroxide paste combined with root canal therapy. The therapeutic effect of the two groupswere compared in terms of gingival index (GI),periodontal pocket probing depth(PD),bleeding index(BI),plaque index(PLI)score and inflammatory factor level. Results The total effective rate in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The scores of GI,PD,BIand PLIafter treatment in the two groupswere lower than those before treatment, and the differenceswere statistically significant(P<0.05).The scores of GI,PD,BIand PLI in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group after treatment, the differenceswere statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-1β(IL-1β),interleukin-8(IL-8)and interleukin-6(IL-6)after treatment in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,TNF-α,IL-1β,IL-8 and IL-6in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group, the differenceswere statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Calcium hydroxide paste combined with root canal therapy has a good effect on pulpitis or apicitis patients, which can better reduce the pain degree of patients and is of great significance.
