Effect of Atorvastatin on the postoperative residual hematoma in patients with chronic subdural hematoma

Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of atorvastatin on the postoperative residual hematoma in patients with chronic subdural hematoma.Methods A total of 56 patients who received burr hole irrigation and drainage (BHID)in the People′s Hospital of Xinxing County and the People′s Hospital of Yunfu City from March 2015 to November 2017 were selected as research subjects.The patients were randomly divided into two groups,with 28 cases in each group.The control group was treated with routine postoperative treatment.The observation group was treated with atorvastatin on the basis of the control group.After 12 weeks of regular follow-up,the postoperative residual hematoma,Markwalder grading and recurrence of the two groups were compared.Results The residual hematoma (6thweek,12thweek)of the observation group was less than that in the control group,Markwalder grading (12thweek)was superior to the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Atorvastatin can reduce the amount of residual hematoma after chronic subdural hematoma,improve brain function,worthy of clinical promotion.
