Abstract:Objective To study the effect of quality control circle (QCC) activity in reducing the incidence of ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP).Methods A total of 285 patients receiving mechanical ventilation in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Pharmaceutical University from January 2017 to June 2018 were selected as the research subjects, 135 patients admitted from January to September 2017 before the implementation of QCC activities were selected as the control group, and 150 patients admitted from October 2017 to June 2018 after the implementation of QCC activities were selected as the observation group. The control group adopted routine nursing intervention, and the observation group adopted nursing intervention under the quality control circle activities. The incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia and the implementation rate of hand hygiene, the passing rate of hand hygiene, and the rate of good oral care results were compared between the two groups of patients. At the same time, the time of mechanical ventilation and ICU stay time were recorded. Results The incidence of ventilator-related pneumonia in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The rate of hand hygiene implementation, hand hygiene, and oral care in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.001).The mechanical ventilation time and ICU admission time in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The implementation of QCC activities will help to reduce the incidence of VAP, improve the overall management of hospital infections and team collaboration.
