Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of ultrasound-guided thoracic paravertebral nerve block combined with laryngeal mask general anesthesia on analgesic effect, cognitive function and sleep quality in middle-aged and elderly patients with breast cancer. Methods A total of 66 middle-aged and elderly breast cancer patients admitted to Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University from January 2018 to January 2021 were selected as the research subjects, and were divided into observation group (33 cases)and control group (33 cases)according to random number table method.Patients in the control group were received general anesthesia with laryngeal mask, and patients in the observation group were received ultrasonic-guided thoracic paravertebral nerve block combined with laryngeal mask general anesthesia. The analgesic effect, cognitive function and sleep quality of the two groups were compared. Results The visual analog scale(VAS)score of the observation group were lower than those of the control group at 4,12 and 24 h after surgery, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)score of the two groups at 1 and 3 h after operation were lower than that before operation, but the MMSE score of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The score of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)in the two groups after surgery were lower than those before surgery, and the PSQI score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Ultrasound-guided thoracic paravertebral nerve block combined with laryngeal mask general anesthesia can relieve postoperative pain, improve the level of cognitive and improve sleep quality in middleaged and elderly patients with breast cancer.
