Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Shiwei Gugu Decoction in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis(KOA) of liver and kidney deficiency. Methods A total of 64 patients with liver and kidney deficiency type KOA admitted to Guangzhou Orthopedic Hospital from February to September 2020 were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the order of treatment by odd and even numbers, with 32 cases in each group. The control group was given Glucosamine Sulfate Granules orally, and the observation group was given Shiwei Gugu Decoction on the basis of control group. Visual analogue scale (VAS) score, Western Ontario and McMaster University knee arthritis (WOMAC) index before treatment, 2 and 6 weeks after treatment, total response rate and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference in VAS score and WOMAC index between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05). After 2 and 6 weeks of treatment, the VAS score and WOMAC index in both groups were lower than before treatment, and the VAS score and WOMAC index in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There were no obvious adverse reactions in the two groups during treatment. Conclusion Shiwei Gugu Decoction has a good therapeutic effect on KOA of liver and kidney deficiency type, and its safety is high, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
