Discussion on the experience of TCM treatment of atherosclerosis

Abstract：Based on the theories of traditinal Chinese medicine (TCM) and the thoughts and achievements of modern medical research on atherosclerosis (AS), the author understands the three pathological stages of AS oriented by stages,namely formation stage of AS plaque treat with the principle of regulating the liver, nourishing the kidneys and strengthening the spleen: stable stages of AS plaque on the principle of clearing heat and detoxifying, rupture stages of AS plaque under the principle of activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis.The author suggests that the TCM treatment of AS should be based on the achievements of modern medical research and staged treatment according to the different stages of plaque formation and development, so as to improve the therapeutic effect.
