Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of Arpin protein in prostate cancer. Methods Altogether the data of 136 patients with prostate cancer and 120 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia were collected from January 2013 to September 2014 in Qingdao Municipal Hospital.Immunohistochemical technique was used to detect the expression of Arpin protein in prostate cancer and prostatic hyperplasia. The relationship between Arpin protein and clinicopathological features and survival rate of patients with prostate cancer was analyzed retrospectively. Results Compared with benign prostatic hyperplasia, the expression of Arpin protein in prostate cancer decreased (28.68% vs.70.00%, χ2=43.611, P<0.001).The expression of Arpin protein was closely related to TNM stage, Gleason score and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05).Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that Arpin protein expression (HR: 0.341; 95% CI: 0.193-0.601; P<0.001) was an independent prognostic indicator of disease-free survival in prostate cancer patients. Conclusion The expression of Arpin protein in prostate cancer tissue was low, and correlated with the clinicopathological characteristics of prostate cancer, which affects the adverse prognosis of prostate cancer.
