Comparison of height,weight and BMI index between children with β marine anemia and normal children of the same age

Abstract:ObjectiveTo investigate the difference between the height,weight and BMI index of children with β marine anemia and normal children of the same age.MethodsAltogether 52 cases of children with β marine anemia who were diagnosed by outpatient department in our hospital from June 2015 to June 2017 were selected as the observation group,and 52 normal children of the same age were randomly selected as the control group.The height,weight and BMI index of the two groups were compared.ResultsThe height,weight and BMI index of observation group were significantly lower than those of control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusionβ marine anemia affects the normal growth and development of children,which needs timely treatment or monitoring as well as intervention of height and weight growth if necessary.
