The influence of psychological intervention on family burden and mental health of relatives of patient with cancer chemotherapy

Abstract:Objective To study the influence of psychological intervention on family burden and mental health of relatives of patients with cancer chemotherapy.Methods A total of 81 cases of cancer chemotherapy treated in the 184th Hospital of PLA from September 2016 to August 2017 were selected for the study.These patients were divided into the control group(n=40)and the treatment group(n=41)according to the random number table method.The patients in the control group were treated with routine care,and the treatment group were conducted psychological intervention on the basis of the control group.The mental health,social support and family burden of the families of the two groups were compared.Results Before treatment,there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups of SDS and SAS scores (P>0.05).After treatment,both SDS and SAS scores in the treatment group were lower than the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05)The SDS scores of patients in the control group before and after treatment showed no statistically significant difference (P>0.05).The SAS scores after treatment were higher than those before treatment,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The SDS and SAS scores of patients in the treatment group were lower than those before treatment,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Before treatment,the scores of daily activities,financial burden,recreational activities,external relations,members′mental health and members′physical health in the two groups were compared without statistical significance (P >0.05).After treatment,the treatment group′s daily activities,the economic burden,entertainment activities,foreign relations,members,members of the health of various grades of mental health were lower than the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The scores of the control group before and after treatment were not statistically significant(P>0.05),and the scores of the treatment group were lower than before treatment,with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After treatment,the score of objective support,subjective support and utilization of support in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The psychological intervention of the family members of cancer chemotherapy patients significantly alleviated their depression and anxiety.And psychological intervention reduced the family burden obviously and improved social support.
