Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of Edaravone on postoperative cognitive function in elderly patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.MethodsA total of 80 elderly patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy from October 2017 to June 2018 in our hospital were selected and they were randomly divided into the Edaravone group and control group, and there were 40 cases in each group.Edaravone group was dripped Edaravone of 0.5 mg/kg via peripheral vein 20 minutes before anesthesia induction(dilute with physiological saline to 100 ml),drop finished in 30 min,the control group was given such as capacity of physiological saline in the same conditions. The serum S-100β protein levels,mini-mental state examination (MMSE)score and the incidence of postoperative cognitive dysfunction(POCD)at different times were compared between the two groups. Results The serum S-100β protein concentrations in the Edaravone group were lower than those in control group at 6,24 hours after operation, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The MMSE scores of the Edaravone group were higher than those of control group at 6,24 hours after operation, and the differences had statistical significance(P<0.05).The incidence of POCD in the Edaravone group were significantly lower than those in control group at different times, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Edaravone can significantly reduce the incidence of postoperative cognitive dysfunction in elderly patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy, has a certain protective effect on the postoperative cognitive function.
