Objective To observe the curative effect ofα-Lipoic Acid combined with anodyne treatment instrument in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN). Methods From January 2010 to February 2014,179 patientswith type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy were randomly divided into two groups.Observation groupreceived α-Lipoic Acid combined with anodyne treatment instrument for 10 days and control group receivedα-lipoic acid for 10 days only. The vibration perception thresholds (VPT)before and after the treatment was tested. Results Compared with before treatment,VPT (including double acrotarsium and toe)after treatment was decreased significantly in two groups, and there was a statistical difference (P<0.05).VPT decreasing range of left acrotarsium and toe in observation group was larger than that control group with the significant differences(P<0.05).After treatment, the remission rate of observation group was 83.2%(89 cases),while control group was 76.3%(55 cases),the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05). Compared with control group, the improvement rate of VPT for double acrotarsium in observation group was higher, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusionα-Lipoic Acid combined with anodyne treatment instrument in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy could relieve the symptoms and improve the VPT value. It is worthy of clinical promotion.
