Abstract：ObjectiveTo develop a new method for easy rat and mouse alveolar lavage.MethodsMouse stomach needle and electrophoresis point sample suction head applied to develop a new alveolar lavage operation system in rat and mouse.Sterile syringe of 10 ml or 1 ml was used respectively to complete the alveolar lavage with the intubation tool. Ten male Wistar rats(weight was 220-250 g)and ten male CB17-SCID mice(weight was 24-28 g)were performed for intubation and alveolar lavage fluid collection.Results20 times of intubation and alveolar lavage operation were completed.1×107alveolar macrophages from rat and 3×106alveolar macrophages from mouse were successfully collected.ConclusionA new method of alveolar lavage in rat and mouse set up applying mouse stomach needle and point sample suction head can be widely used in the study of respiratory disease model in rat and mouse.
