Abstract：Objective To explore effect of bonesetting techniques and splint external fixation for Monteggia fracture in children.Methords 281 patients with Monteggia fractures in Emergency Department of Our Hospital from July 2010 to June 2015 were included in this study,there were 217 boys and 64 girls in this series.The age ranged from 2 to 14 years old(average 7.2 years old).Visit time after injury ranged from 1 hour to 3 days with a mean of 8.7 hours.All the fractures were treated by bonesetting techniques and splint external fixation.The resetting time from 2 to 10 minutes and with a mean of 4.6 minutes.Results All patients were removed splint time 2 weeks～2 months and were active and passive joints loose training.281 children with Monteggia fracture were retrospectively analyzed，follow-up of 238 cases for 8.4 months(from 3 months to 24 months).All fractures had been clinical healing,according to Mackay function evaluation standard to carry on the curative effect evaluation,excellent was 198 cases,good of 40 cases,and no poor,excellent and good rate was 100%.Conclusion Bonesetting techniques is a method for the treatment of Monteggia fracture,the curative effect is reliable,simple,non-invasive,simple operation,safety,good functional recovery ect.and worthy of further discussion and promotion.
