Abstract:ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical value of ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration cytology(US-FNAC) in the diagnosis of papillary thyroid micro-carcinoma (PTMC).MethodsThe clinical data of 95 patients with PTMC (124 nodules)who underwent US-FNAC in our hospital from March 2014 to October 2016 were retrospectively analyzed. The diagnostic results of US-FNAC were compared with the results of postoperative pathology and clinical follow-up.ResultsUS-FNAC showed that the numbers of malignant, suspected malignant, benign, atypical follicular lesions and ineffective specimens were 78,23,13,2 and 8 cases, respectively. There were 20 cases negative in cytology and 104 cases positive. The results of postoperative pathology or follow-up showed that there were 101 malignantcases and 23 benign cases. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive likelihood ratio and negative likelihood ratio of US-FNAC in the diagnosis of PTMC were 99.01%(100/101),82.61%(19/23),95.97%(119/124),5.69 and 0.01,respectively.ConclusionUS-FNAC can be used in the clinical diagnosis of PTMC,which has higher application value.
