Abstract:ObjectiveTo observation the relationship between serum ferritin (SF)level and type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods96 patients with impaired fasting glucose/impaired glucose tolerance (IFG/IGT)in our hospital from October to December in 2014 were selected.According to IFG/IGT,they were divided into the high SF level group and the low SF level group,48 cases in each group.101 people with normal glucose tolerance (NGT)were selected as the control group at the same period. The incidence of T2DM in each group after 2 years and the dynamic changes of SF in each group in 2 years were compared.ResultsThe level of Glu in the high SF level group was higher than than in the low SF level group for 2014-2016 years (P<0.05).The incidence rate of T2DM in the high SF level group was 18.4%,which was higher than that in the low SF level group(0.0%)(P<0.05).And the prevalence rate of IFG in the high SF level group was 59.2%,which was higher than that in the low SF level group(51.0%)(P<0.01).The NGT in the high SF level group was lower than that in the low SF level group(P<0.01).The level of cholesterol(CHOL),triglyceride(TG),highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)in the high SF level group was higher than that in the low SF level group, with significant difference (P<0.05).Glu was positively correlated with SF,CHOL,TG,LDL-C,but there was not correlated with HDL-C.ConclusionThe SF level is positively correlated with T2DM,so controlling the level of SF is an important measure to reduce morbidity.
