Effect of Mesalamine combined with Tin Powder enema in the treatment of ulcerative colitis and its influence on the immune function and cytokines of patients

Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of Mesalazine combined with Tin Powder enema in the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) and its influence on the immune function and cytokines of patients. Methods A total of 76 patients with UC who were diagnosed and treated in Wujin Hospital Affiliated to Jiangsu University from January 2018 to January 2021 were selected as the research subjects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into a control group and a study group, with 38 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Mesalazine, and the study group was treated with Tin Powder enema on the basis of the control group. The clinical efficacy, helper T cells (Th17) and regulatory T cells (Treg), T cell subsets (CD4+, CD8+, CD4+/CD8+), natural killer cell (NK) levels, immunoglobulin (Ig) A, IgG, IgM levels, serum interleukin (IL)-10, IL-18, IL-6, IL-4, and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and the occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of study group was 92.11%, which was higher than that of control group (68.42%), and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The expression level of Th17 in the study group after treatment was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The expression level of Treg in the study group after treatment was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, CD4+, CD4+/CD8+ and NK levels in the study group were higher than those in the control group, while CD8+level in the study group was lower than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The levels of IgA, IgG and IgM in the study group after treatment were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The levels of IL-10 and IL-4 in the study group after treatment were higher than those in the control group, with statistical significances (P<0.05). The levels of IL-18, IL-6 and TNFα in the study group after treatment were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05). Conclusion Mesalamine combined with Tin Powder enema can enhance the clinical treatment effect in patients with UC, improve the immune function, reduce inflammation, and have varying degrees of impact on immune indicators and cytokines, and it is safer.
