Abstract:Objective To analyze the effect of the different body mass index (BMI) on estradiol (E2), luteinizing hormone (LH) and progesterone (P) values in females who received in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection(IVF/ICSI) treatment on human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) day. Methods A total of 1307 cycles of IVF/ICSI conducted in our reproductive center were retrospectively analyzed. Based on the age, female infertility patients were divided into the group of the age ≤35 years old and the group of the age >35 years old. Then based on the different BMI, the two groups were further divided into three subgroups: normal weight group (18.5 kg/m2≤BMI<23 kg/m2),overweight group (23 kg/m2≤BMI<25 kg/m2) and obese group (BMI≥25 kg/m2). The effect of BMI in different age groups on the hormone level of HCG day were observed. Results There were statistically significant differences in E2 levels of infertile women aged ≤35 years, normal weight group, overweight group and obese group (P<0.05). The level of E2 in obese group was lower than that in normal group and overrecombinant group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The P level of HCG in the three subgroups was statistically significant (P<0.05). The P level of obese group was lower than that of normal group and overreorganization group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in LH on HCG day among the three subgroups (P>0.05), and there was no statistically significant difference in pregnancy rate among the three subgroups(P>0.05). There was significant difference in HCG day P level among infertile women aged >35 years, normal weight group, overweight group and obese group (P<0.05). The P level of normal group was higher than that of overweight and obesity group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in E2 and LH levels among the three subgroups on HCG day (P>0.05), and there was no significant difference in pregnancy rate among the three subgroups (P>0.05). Correlation analysis showed that BMI was negatively correlated with E2 and P on HCG day(P<0.05). Partial correlation analysis after age control showed that BMI was negatively correlated with E2 and P on HCG day (P<0.05). Conclusion For infertile women treated with IVF/ICSI, serum E2 and P levels on HCG day decreased with the increase of BMI, BMI does not affect serum LH level on HCG day, and BMI has not been found to affect pregnancy outcome.
