Study on the application of PRECEDE-PROCEED model in family education of children with bronchial asthma

Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of PRECEDE-PROCEED model in family education of children with bronchial asthma.Methods A total of 105 children with bronchial asthma and their parents in Zhuhai Center for Maternal and Child Health Care from January 2019 to December 2019 were selected as the research objects.According to the random number table method,they were divided into the control group(52 cases)and the observation group(53 cases).The control group adopted the routine nursing mode to implement health education,and the observation group adopted the PRECEDE-PROCEED mode to implement health education.The family members′disease management ability,children′s medication compliance,asthma control level and pulmonary function recovery were compared between the two groups.Results There were no significant differences in the scores of family members′disease management ability,children′s morisky medication adherence scale 8-item (MMAS-8),childhood asthma control test (C-ACT),the percentage of forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1%)and the percentage of peak expiratory flow rate in the expected value(PEF%)between the two groups before intervention(P>0.05).After 3 and 6 months of intervention,the family members′disease management ability score,MMAS-8 score,C-ACT score,FEV1% and PEF% in the observation group were higher than those in the control group,and the scores of observation group after 6 months of intervention were higher than those after 3 months of intervention,and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The PRECEDE-PROCEED model is beneficial to improve the disease management ability of the family members of children with bronchial asthma,improve the control level of children′s bronchial asthma and the compliance of taking medicine,and promote the recovery of the disease.
