Abstract:Objective To explore the impact of pharmacist participation in the management of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) on compliance and efficacy. Methods A total of 60 patients with COPD who were admitted to Fengcheng Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Jiangxi Province from December 2018 to May 2019 were selected as the research objects and divided into the study group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group adopted the conventional management mode, and the study group adopted the pharmacist to participate in the management. The intervention time of the two groups was 14 days. After the intervention, the cognitive score of medication safety ability, disease control, medication compliance, adverse reactions, treatment effect and self-management ability were compared between the two groups. Results Before intervention, there were no statistically significant differences in COPD assessment test (CAT) score and compliance score between the two groups (P>0.05). After intervention, the compliance scores of the two groups were higher than those before the intervention, the CAT score was lower than that before the intervention, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After intervention, the compliance scores in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the CAT score was lower than that in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The total incidence of adverse drug reactions in the study group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The length of stay in the study group was shorter than that in the control group, and the hospitalization cost and hospitalization times were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Before intervention, there was no statistical significance in the score of self-management ability between the two groups(P>0.05). After intervention, the scores of self-management ability of patients in two groups were higher than those before intervention, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After intervention, the scores of self-management ability in the study group were all higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The participation of pharmacists in the management of COPD patients can effectively improve patients′ compliance, reduce medication errors, reduce the total incidence of adverse drug reactions, shorten hospital stays, reduce medical expenses, improve patient self-management awareness and ability, and reduce the number of hospitalizations.
