Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of subtotal thyroidectomy in patients with bilateral nodular goiter. Methods A total of 124 cases treated by bilateral nodular goiter patients were selected from breast and thyroid specialties department of He Xian Memorial Hospital of Panyu District in Guangzhou City from March 2016 to May 2018, they were divided into control group and research group, with 62 cases in each group according to the lottery method. The control group underwent total thyroidectomy, and the study group underwent subtotal thyroidectomy. The hospital stay and operation time, complications, recurrence rate, and total effective rate were compared between the two groups. Results The hospitalization time and operation time of the study group were shorter than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of recurrent laryngeal nerve injury, parathyroid injury, and hypothyroidism between the two groups (P>0.05).The recurrence probability of the study group (0.00%) was lower than that of the control group (6.45%), and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The treatment efficiency of the study group (96.77%) was higher than that of the control group(87.09%), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Subtotal thyroidectomy can reduce the recurrence rate of patients with bilateral nodular goiter, improve the curative effect, and the effect is more ideal.
