Effect of head point penetration therapy matching w ith self-made and modified Peiyuan Kaiqiao Decoction treating Alzheimer disease

Abstract：ObjectiveTo head point penetration therapy matching with self-made and modified Peiyuan Kaiqiao Decoction treating Alzheimer disease (AD).M ethodsForty patients with AD treated by outpatient in Department of Acupuncture of Zhongguancun Hospital were selected from April 2014 to February 2017 and they were treated with pointpenetration therapymainlymatchingwith self-madeandmodified Peiyuan Kaiqiao Decoction fororaladministration.The intervalwas 3 times a week,and they were treated for 8 weeks.At the same time,the patients were treated by selfmade and modified Peiyuan Kaiqiao Decoction,and patients returned visit 1 time every week.If the four methods of diagnosis changed,prescription decoction was adjusted according to the results of syndrome differentiation.MMSE,HDSR,ADAS-Cog scale were used to assess the changes in intelligence and cognitive function of the patients.The efficacy index was calculated according to the MMSE score to evaluate the total effective rate.ResultsBefore and after the treatment,each item score and total score of MMSE,HDS-R and ADAS-Cog score in patients had a statistical difference(P＜0.01).Among40 patients,17 casesweremarkedly effective,13 caseswereeffective and 10 caseswere invalid,and the total effective ratewas75%.All patients had no obvious adverse reaction.ConclusionHead point penetration therapymatching with self-made and modified Peiyuan Kaiqiao Decoction treating Alzheimer disease is safe and effective,and it can improve her cognitive ability inmany aspects such as orientation,memory,calculation ability,language ability and so on.
